Black Iris No. 2 Tiled Wall Hanging

A versatile decorative art piece - hang it on the wall, use it as a pedestal for smaller collectibles, lean it against the wall on a bookshelf, this piece can do it all.

Black Iris No. 2 is a small tiled tablet, originally a piece from my first solo show, A Light That Never Goes Out. Last October I had one single surprise iris pop up along my front gate. I was so thrilled. It was beauty when I least expected it. This piece, and Black Iris No. 1 are two of my favorite pieces I've ever made. 

This is a small wooden panel with various handmade ceramic tiles, pieced together to make a stunning and moody black iris. This piece is grouted in a black, sanded grout. Each tile was hand cut and hand painted in a speckled deep emerald green glaze, carefully arranged and finished with love and care. The sides are also covered in tiles to frame the edges.
